Hello

Hello everybody. If you arrived here from the Boxes email, then welcome… Please have a look around and download some music.

After a busy summer of non-Camp America activities, I’m finally back in the studio and working on songs. More news soon… Stay in touch on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace by following the links up there on the right (only joking about MySpace, OBVS). See you soon!

Boxes – live show and remix

If you follow me on Twitter (@camp_america) then you may have seen a fair bit of chatter about a new band called Boxes. According to the official bio, “Boxes collides contagious melodies with messed-up synths, guitars & punching beats …. and makes melancholy feel like a warm summers day”, which I think is a pretty good description of some very good music.

I’ve done a remix of Boxes’ first single “Throw Your Stones”. You can hear (and download) it by signing up to Boxes’ mailing list at http://www.boxes.mu

Boxes is a one-man project, but I’m involved with playing synths for some of the live shows. The next one is Monday July 20th at the Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, London. More details here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=171990042860378

Enjoy the remix and I hope to see some of you at the Bull & Gate on Monday. Bye bye for now.

2 new remixes

This week is unusually busy at Camp HQ. Following yesterday’s update, the 2 remixes I did for Castle Lights are now available.

Click on the image below and you will find yourself at a site called Noisetrade. In exchange for adding your email address to Castle Lights’ mailing list, you can download their EP which features both of my remixes along with the original songs.

(PS. Sorry iPhone/iPad users – Noisetrade is unfortunately a Flash-based site so you’ll have to use something old fashioned like an actual computer.)

Update

It’s been a long time since I posted anything, so here is an update on what I’ve been doing…

Basically I’ve been in the studio every single day, working hard to finish some songs. I’ve been collaborating with a few amazing people (who I will introduce you to over the next little while), and the results are sounding great. So far 7 tracks are pretty much done. It feels like there is a cohesive album coming together which I hope to finish soon and release some time this year.

There are also a few songs that aren’t going to fit the overall vibe of the album, so I’ll try to finish them soon and release them as one-offs. Make sure you follow me on Twitter and I’ll let you know when they’re online.

As well as this new original Camp America material, there are a few remixes heading your way too. Firstly there’s a remix of Looking For Bugs by Hollywood Kill which should be available soon. I also remixed 2 tracks for Castle Lights and these will also be available soon.

If you haven’t yet downloaded my free Florrie remix then please do – I think it’s one of the best remixes I’ve ever done. But then I would say that, wouldn’t I? I’ll let you be the judge.

Time to get back to work – thanks for reading and I’ll be back soon with more news.

Love from Mr America x

Progress

I finished a song. It has a GUITAR SOLO. Maybe I’ll finish another one next week. And then eventually I will let you hear them.

Helicopters album

A few years ago I did a remix for a Chicago band called Helicopters (it’s on my Remixes page). Helicopters have released a free album of demos and rarities, and my remix is on it.

The Chicago music blog Chicagoverse have featured it, and you can download it from Helicopters’ Bandcamp page (although if you haven’t heard them before, you’re probably better off starting with the album Sizing Up The Distance which is also on there and can be streamed in full for free).

Hollywood Kill remix on the way

I’ve just finished a remix for Hollywood Kill, and I’m very pleased with it. It has the honour of being the first remix to feature the Jen SX1000 which I’m looking after for Mr Arkyard:

Jen SX1000

You will hopefully be able to hear it soon – I will of course let you know.
